We are excited to share the notes and learnings from our work last year through Kota Kita’s 2021 Annual Report. The report consolidates our key achievements and knowledge from 20 projects we conducted in 2021, building on existing work in partner cities such as Surakarta (Solo), Semarang, Pekalongan, Wonogiri, Wonosobo, Sleman, Jakarta, Bima, Pontianak, Manado, and Banjarmasin. It also showcases our organizational growth, joint initiatives with partners, as well as our contributions to the greater urban issues ranging from disability inclusion to climate resilience to informality.

Here are some highlights from the 2021 Annual Report:

  • We explored new creative tools and methodology to encourage meaningful participation of citizens in reimagining and shaping their cities, ranging from photo diaries and videography to personas and community-led interventions.
  • We conducted research studies on pressing urban issues, including inclusive design, climate resilience, and urban food systems.
  • We worked with city government officials to promote more inclusive and resilient planning practices.

In documenting and sharing these notes and learning, we hope to reflect on how we can further strengthen our efforts while initiating new conversations on the role of civil society in creating more democratic, inclusive, and resilient cities. We hope you enjoy reading our annual report, and we look forward to hearing any feedback, inputs, and invitations for discussions from friends and collaborators of Kota Kita.
